CCC research reflected in key Westminster report on intergovernmental relations.

Press Release

The report  on "The Relationship between the UK and Scottish Governments" issued on Friday 7th June by Westminster’s Scottish Affairs Committee contains recommendations which are informed by research and evidence given by CCC fellows, including through the Report on Reforming Intergovernmental Relations published by the Centre late last year.   Among the key recommendations shaped by CCC input are reforms to the Joint Ministerial Committee system around transparency, dispute resolution mechanisms and the creation of an independent secretariat to improve efficiency.   Research into other intergovernmental systems by CCC identified the importance of building a culture of co-operation and trust and this was cited by the Committee as being especially important for the creation of UK Common Frameworks in the post-Brexit landscape.

In a guest blog on this site, Pete Wishart MP, Chairman of the Scottish Affairs Committee, highlights the “invaluable evidence” given by the Centre and reflected in the Committee’s Report.
