Weir publishes Oxford Economics report on business implications of independence

4th April 2014
The Weir Group PLC (Weir) has published a report commissioned by the company and carried out by Oxford Economics which discussesses the potential implications for businesses in an independence scenario. The engineering firm sought to analyse the ramifications of independence on currency and funding costs, implications for trade flows, taxation, and pensions. The report describes the risks and opportunities in the event of independence but is largely critical of the prospect, noting a yes vote would 'create a number of costs and uncertainties, but fewer and more uncertain benefit'.
The company has published a press release and published the report, The Potential Implications of Independence for Businesses in Scotland in full on their website.
