Launch of Migration in Scotland

18th September 2013

Today the ESRC Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) at the University of Oxford launched the project Migration in Scotland. Scotland differs from the rest of the UK in terms of the scale, determinants and impacts of migration, and migration and migration policy are sure to arise in debates about Scottish independence.

In the lead up to the Scottish referendum on independence, the Migration Observatory is providing analysis and data on migration and migrants in Scotland in order to inform the debate. It is providing a suite of outputs, including briefings analysing differences between migration in the UK and Scotland, policy primers discussing issues related to policy debates about migration in Scotland and commentaries on migration issues and news. The Migration Observatory will also be conducting a new survey on public opinion toward migration in Scotland.

Migration in Scotland builds and expands the work of the highly successful Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford.
